Shatter Me

Juliette was sent to the asylum for a power she never knew she had until now. For what though, a gift or a curse. Juliette has the power the power to kill people with her touch, as the world around her crumbles from famine and diseases she is one day sent a cell mate. After, 264 days of never touching someone they have sent a boy. With conflicting emotions she realizes she must help him, but how when they are stuck so the only thing she can do is teach him the daily routines of life in the asylum. 2 weeks later she finds herself leaving the asylum to meet with the Reestablishment.

Excerpt from Goodreads:
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Ruby is one of the children that has survived the disease that has caused other children to die. But, the cost of being one of these gifted children to survive is the power they hold. When Ruby was only 10 years old she made the accident of taking her parents memory of her away. Now, Ruby is 16 and escapes her rehabilitation center, where she finds Liam and his crew. Liam might just be the most dangerous person to be around because he holds that could be the cure to everything. Ruby, must now choose between her new found love or her power.

Excerpt from Goodreads:
When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns

The Girl of Fire and Thorns was a great start to the fall read, I enjoyed it very much. Elisa is the chosen one who bares the Godstone, and at the age of 16 is forced to marry. The Invierne , who also posses the other Godstones have been bring war to her new home. But, when Elisa is kidnapped she has no choice, but to help the people that have taken her win the war that they have been facing. Which, the king himself had no clue they have been fighting their own wars for years. In this twisting and spellbinding book Elisa discovers what it is like to be loved, and to have the power to do good, but at what cost does the good come at?

Excerpt from Goodreads:
Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa is the chosen one.

But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can't see how she ever will.

Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.

And he's not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies seething with dark magic are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people's savior. And he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.

Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.

Most of the chosen do.
